Mads Andenas, Professor of Law, University of Oslo, Norway; Fellow Harris Manchester College, University of Oxford; Senior Fellow, Institute of European and Comparative Law, University of Oxford; and General Editor of the International and Comparative Law Quarterly, Oxford University Press, led and served as Facilitator of the Oxford Round Table session, "Rule of Law," conducted during the week of August 3, 2008. Attending the symposium were academics from 14 countries: Australia, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, India, Japan, Nigeria, Poland, South Africa, Sweden, United Kingdom and United States.
The purpose of the symposium was to engage academic discourse analyzing the various dimensions of the rule of law and human rights from an international and comparative law perspective. The meetings, throughout the week, were held at Harris Manchester College in the University of Oxford. Papers presented will be externally peer reviewed for possible publication. The programme is given below.
